About KPCC

Kissing Point Cricket Club is located in Turramurra on Sydney’s North Shore. This Season is our 50th Anniversary, 1961-2011 Not Out!

We have teams in junior cricket & senior cricket for all people & ages. KPCC also runs an In2cricket Program for the 4-7 year olds. Cricket coaching & training is provided for all levels. In the 2011/12 season our Junior teams start with the Under 8's through to the Under 15's. The Seniors have 7 teams, with the A Grade playing on turf. B Grade through to D2 Grade play on a hard wicket.  In 2010/11 for the 1st time ever we had 4 Senior teams in the Grand Finals.

We are currently trying to encourage more girls & women to join the club, please contact us if you are interested.

The club is affiliated with the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai & Hills District Cricket Association (HK&HDCA) & the’ Weet-Bix Twenty20 Cup’ cricket competition. Games are played on grounds including the areas of Turramurra, Wahroonga, St Ives, Hornsby, Mt Colah, Berowra, Brooklyn, Pennant Hills, Kenthurst, Glenorie & Kellyville. Our main home ground & licensed clubhouse are situated in Auluba Road, South Turramurra. The Club runs social activities throughout the season - the Junior T20's under lights on a Friday night & the Senior BBQ on a Saturday after the matches some of the events on offer. We play from September to March. The Juniors & Seniors start date for 2011/12 is Saturday 10th September. In2cricket will start on Saturday 15th October.

KPCC would like to address the problem of our lack of teenage Juniors - although this year we have teams up to the Under 15's for the first time in several years. In the past our Junior numbers have declined as many of them start to attend Independent schools that require they play school sport on Saturday mornings. As many Independent schools are now scheduling their sport also in the afternoon, KPCC has not to date looked to move away from the Saturday morning spot it currently occupies. We are providing what many of our Independent school Junior players call 'Real Cricket'. In our Junior games each team faces a maximum of between 50-60 overs, depending on the age group. The 2 day format allows the players to learn & use proper batting technique & to bowl proper spells, giving them the excitement of Test cricket. This is something which the shorter format games offered by the Independent schools ( & Clubs in other competitions), although great for entertainment, is not educating young cricketers in. Under pressure to score quickly in the shorter format, the less experienced cricketer learns bad habits & often performs poorly.

The cricket Junior who wants to play Representative cricket for their area, must first belong to a Club. We have Juniors who play for their School, our Club & play Representative cricket on Sundays. You needn't go this far, but it is possible to combine Independent school sport & Club cricket successfully. It is definitely worthwhile & can be very rewarding.
